Our impact
Turning Passion into Profession
At AFRISOS, we don't just teach filmmaking; we turn passion into a profession. We empower our mentees by connecting them with paid opportunities that help them grow into industry professionals. Through strategic partnerships with media companies and stakeholders, we ensure our graduates earn from their craft while honing their skills in real-world settings. It's not just about learning—it's about launching successful careers.
Since 2021, we have proudly guided dozens of aspiring filmmakers and photographers into professional roles, with many now contributing to major media projects across the continent. Our graduates are not just participants; they are shaping the future of African storytelling.
At AFRISOS, we are thrilled to have been a driving force behind the inaugural Wildscreen Festival Tanzania, a groundbreaking event that brought the global spotlight to African wildlife filmmakers for the first time on Tanzanian soil. Partnering with the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, this festival represents a significant milestone in our mission to amplify the voices of African storytellers and provide them with the recognition they deserve on the world stage.
The Wildscreen Festival Tanzania, held in Arusha, attracted over 200 industry professionals, including both emerging and established filmmakers from across the continent. The event was packed with dynamic content, featuring headline talks, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities with top global industry players. A standout moment was the WildPitch competition, where African filmmakers had the chance to present their ideas and compete for up to $10,000 in funding, a critical opportunity to kickstart their projects.
