Since the inception of AFRISOS, we have followed our vision of creating community-led short impact films that inspire change as we endeavour to preserve Africa’s rich cultural heritage and wildlife.
Turtle Man
When Nassoro felt the ocean began to refuse him, he left behind his life as a fisherman. Now, Nassoro dedicates his life to sea turtles and is a source of inspiration in his community.
A Dream of Return
Regina is a bridge between the past and future of one of the world’s last hunter-gather tribes. Despite alcoholism ravaging the community, Regina holds hope in preserving the ancient Hazda traditions and way-of-life.
Ashura: The Courageous Young Woman
Ashura is a woman of immense courage and inner strength. As the only woman on her patrol team, aggressive animals are not her only challenge. Yet, Ashura admirably remains dedicated to protecting her local communities from destructive wildlife.
Mama Rafiki: Turning Butterflies into Goats
Mama Rafiki is a story of hope and transformation. Once perceiving the forest as solely a resource for livelihood, a close call with authorities had Mama Rafiki bravely turn away from logging and towards sustainable butterfly farming and mangrove planting.
